TikTok Shop and Amazon: two channels doing two different jobs
The question is not which of the two is better. It is how to make them work together, given that one creates demand and the other collects it. Below: how they actually connect — tracking, logistics and fees — and the cases where it is not worth doing.
What each one does that the other cannot
On TikTok the product is discovered by someone who was not looking for it. On Amazon it is bought by someone who was. Those are two different trades, and they are measured with different numbers.
TikTok Shop: where demand is created
TikTok has become a social commerce ecosystem where entertainment and shopping sit in the same place. People are not searching; they discover products in the For You feed, driven by the algorithm.
- How the customer arrives: by discovery, without having searched for anything.
- The strength: the purchase happens inside the app, with no extra steps.
- What it requires: new content continuously — not one campaign.
Amazon: where demand is collected
On Amazon, whoever searches already has a specific need, and finds a buying path they know: reviews, Prime badge, returns. The job is not convincing them they need the product — it is being found, and holding up against everyone else on the same page.
- How the customer arrives: searching, with intent already formed.
- The strength: trust in the buying path and the Prime badge.
- What it requires: listings written on the right terms and campaigns held to a return.
When opening the second channel is not worth it
If the product cannot be understood in a few seconds of video; if the margin will not carry the platform fee and the creator payment added together; or if you cannot produce content continuously — then TikTok takes time and does not give it back.
And if your Amazon listing does not convert today, extra traffic does not fix it. It amplifies the problem in the other direction: you pay to send more people to a page that was already losing them.
Two different jobs, measured with different numbers. People who bring Amazon expectations to TikTok usually close the channel after two months saying it does not work. Worth talking through before opening the second channel.
How they connect, in four steps
Four things to put in place, in this order — without the third, the first two cannot be judged.
1. Create demand on TikTok
Native content and creator campaigns put the product in front of people who were not looking for it. The effect worth watching is not only the sales inside TikTok: it is the rise in searches for your brand on Amazon in the days that follow. That is measurable, and it shows up in branded search volume before it shows up in revenue.
2. Collect it on Amazon
The listings and the PPC campaigns have to be ready to convert the traffic TikTok sends, or the demand you paid to create is captured by whoever ranks above you on the same search.
3. Measure how much actually arrives
Amazon Attribution is the tool that closes the loop: it generates tracking links you put in the TikTok videos or ads, and it shows how many views, add-to-baskets and sales on Amazon came from them. It is free for brand-registered sellers. Without it, the two channels are two separate opinions.
4. Keep a single stock
Amazon FBA inventory can serve TikTok Shop orders through Multi-Channel Fulfilment (MCF), so you run one stock pool rather than splitting it. It is not a direct connection — it needs a third-party connector to pass the orders — but it is what stops the two channels competing for the same units.
This is where almost every integration breaks: two channels reading the same inventory without talking to each other produce oversells — and on Amazon an oversell is paid for on the account. Let us look at how to keep them aligned.
Frequently asked questions
Can TikTok Shop be linked directly to Amazon FBA?
Not directly. To serve TikTok Shop orders from Amazon FBA stock you need a third-party connector that passes the orders automatically into Amazon’s Multi-Channel Fulfilment service.
What does it cost to sell on TikTok Shop using Amazon logistics?
Two sets of costs. TikTok Shop’s selling fees — 9% of the sale including VAT since 8 January 2026, dropping to 7% on electronics (including beauty and personal care devices) and to 4% for the first 60 days for eligible new sellers. And Amazon MCF fees, which vary with weight, dimensions and the delivery speed chosen. Check both against your own margin before assuming the combination works: it is the sum of the two that decides it.
How do I measure Amazon sales generated by a TikTok video?
Amazon Attribution. It generates unique tracking links to put in your videos or ads, and reports views, add-to-baskets and sales on the Amazon side. It is free for brands enrolled in Brand Registry.
Do I need a large following to sell on TikTok Shop?
No — and that is the point of the platform. Reach comes from the algorithm and from creators, not from your own follower count. What you do need is the ability to keep producing content: one good video is an event, not a channel.
Does this work outside Italy?
TikTok Shop’s availability and fee structure differ by market, and they have changed repeatedly. The method is the same everywhere; the numbers are not. Check the terms for the market you are selling into rather than assuming the figures above apply.
A real example
We measured this on a beauty brand: the in-app TikTok Shop converted 22% better than the brand’s own website, over the same period. Not more revenue than the site — a better conversion rate, which is a different and more useful claim. What produced it: a synced catalogue, four creator lives a month, and Video Shopping Ads landing on pre-filled baskets.

Where to start
Before opening the channel, three questions: does the product demonstrate well in a few seconds; does the margin carry the platform fee plus the creator cost; and can you produce content every week rather than once. If any of the three is a no, the honest answer is to fix that first.
If all three are yes, write to us: we look at the catalogue, the margins and the content capacity together, and the first 30-minute call is free.
